The BJP government in Rajasthan is trying to work out a consensus with RSS after it called for a 'Chakka Jam' protest here over its demand for the relocation of the temples which were shifted due to Metro rail work.
RSS, which is demanding that the temples shifted due to work on the Jaipur Metro and broadening of roads be relocated back to their original sites, has said that it will hold its protest here on July 9.
"The matter is being reviewed at the chief minister's level and I hope we would reach a consensus," Rajasthan Parliamentary Affairs Minister Rajendra Rathore told reporters after a Cabinet meeting here.
He claimed that the relocation of temples had not taken place entirely under the BJP dispensation and that "32 temples were also shifted during the previous Congress regime".
Asked whether any ruling party MLAs were supporting RSS on the plan, Rathore said he was not aware of it.
"The BJP's state president and home minister can elaborate on this issue," he said.
An RSS spokesperson had announced that barring essential service vehicles, 'Chakka Jam' will be observed and people would be requested not to run their vehicles and motorbikes for two hours between 9 A.M. And 11 A.M. On Thursday in the state capital.
An RSS spokesperson had claimed that 84 temples have so far been shifted from their original places in Jaipur in a joint operation of Jaipur Municipal Corporation, Jaipur Development Authority and Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation.
