The seven-member MIM, which extends support to the government from outside, is angry over certain work being allowed to be taken up at the temple at Charminar.

Its president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi alleged that "the state government has failed to protect secularism".

He also held Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy responsible for failing to maintain status quo at the temple as per High Court orders.

He said that MIM would discuss the matter tomorrow at a meeting and decide whether to continue its support to the Congress government.

The support of the MIM is considered important for the stability of Congress government in the state. Congress currently has 155 MLAs in the 294-member House though loyalty of some of its legislators is in doubt as they are believed to be close to YSR Congress led by Jaganmohan Reddy.

Owaisi condemned the police action of taking MIM legislators and others into custody when they were proceeding towards Charminar today.
