At least ten houses and two shops were gutted when a major fire broke out in Govindpuri area in South Delhi last night, Delhi Fire Service officials said today.
No one was injured in the incident.
Eight fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the fire in which three motorcycles were also damaged.

"The fire started with a series of blasts in five cylinders at a shop in Lal Chowk area of Govindpuri. The flames soon engulfed the surrounding shops and houses," said a fire official.
We received a call at about 9:20 PM about the incident after which eight fire tenders were rushed to the spot which doused the blaze within 40 minutes, he said.
