Ten killed as bus rams into tree in Chhattisgarh

At least ten people were killed and several others injured when the private passenger bus they were travelling in rammed into a roadside tree on NH-6 in Mahasamund district of Chhattisgarh today, police said.

The accident took place near Darripedaw village in Patewa area when the bus was heading to Jhalap from Pithora, Mahasamund Superintendent of Police Deepak Jha said.

"As per the information, ten people were killed and many others injured. Number of casualties may rise," he said.

The injured, some of them in very critical condition, have been admitted to a hospital in Mahasamund, he said.
