Ten persons injured in firing between two families

At least ten persons were injured when two groups of families engaged in a verbal duel opened fire at each other at Ratanpur in Dholpur district, police said today.

The injured were rushed to a hospital and one of them is said to be serious, Dholpur SP Harendra Kumar told PTI.

Four persons of both the families, who are of Rajput descent and nursed an old enmity, were detained for interrogation, Kumar said, adding that two counter FIRs had been registered and the reason for the clash was being ascertained.

Four country made illegal arms without cartridges were recovered from these families, the SP said.
 

The incident occurred when members of the families returning from a farmland got into an altercation and later opened fire at each other yesterday, the SP said.

Extra force was deployed to maintain law and order situation in the area which was said to be tense till today morning, he said.
