Iconic cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has congratulated the trio of Leander Paes, Sania Mirza and young Sumit Nagal for their respective victories at the Wimbledon tennis Grand Slam.
Both Sania and Paes combined with Martina Hingis to bag the women's doubles and mixed doubles titles, respectively, while Nagal entered the history books as only the sixth Indian to win a Grand Slam junior title after winning the boys doubles trophy along with Nam Hoang Ly.
"Congratulations @Leander & @mhingis! Kudos to Leander on another Grand Slam title! You have been a terrific role model for youngsters," Tendulkar wrote on his twitter handle after Paes clinched his 16th Grand Slam title overall here last night.
The batting great wished Sania to keep up the good work and win many more trophies.
"Congratulations @MirzaSania & @mhingis. You both were simply fantastic at #Wimbledon2015 ! Many more trophies to follow.. You make us proud," twitted Tendulkar.
Paes and Hingis drubbed Austrian-Hungarian team of Alexander Peya and Timea Babos 6-1 6-1 in the lop-sided mixed doubles summit clash, even as Sania along with her Swiss partner got the better of Russian duo of Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina 5-7 7-6 (4) 7-5 in a thrilling women's doubles final.
Applauding youngster Nagal, Tendulkar wrote: "Congratulations Sumit Nagal on the Wimbledon Junior Doubles title. This is just the beginning.... Work hard and follow your dreams."
The 17-year-old Nagal and his eighth seed Vietnamese partner overcame Reilly Opelka and Akira Santillan 7-6(4) 6-4.
