The members of the community held a meeting yesterday and demanded removal of the idol and closed their shops in the city in protest.
Later, they also attempted to take out a procession but were prevented from doing so by the police, following which they pelted stones and caused damage to some shops.
Minister in-charge of Bundi district Srichand Kriplani had termed the demand of the idol's removal as "unfair" and said it was placed on the cenotaph for centuries.
