Tension prevailed in Tarn Taran at Jodhpur village when clash erupted between two groups after one of them prevented members of the other group from carrying out their religious activities today.
According to police, during clash one group fired gun shots at the other group, besides attacking on each other with swords and sharp-edged weapons that left more than one dozen people injured from both sides.
A heavy cordon of security forces was rushed and the situation brought under control, police said, adding that people from both the sides were detained as preventive measure.
Deputy Commissioner, Tarn Taran, Balwidner Singh Dhaliwal said that situation was under control now after the deployment of heavy police force for precautionary measures.
