The agitated mob barged into the garden, the oldest reserve of greeneries of its kind in South East Asia, by damaging the gate and portion of its wall, Director Himadri Shekhar Debnath said.
The Indian Botanic Garden or Calcutta Botanical Garden, located on the west bank of River Hooghly, is also a premier Institution for botanical and horticultural research in India.
