Situation remained tense in East Delhi's Trilokpuri area today where two groups had clashed on Diwali night and a heavy police contingent along with Rapid Action Force has been deployed in the area.
Residents have been fighting pitched battles and have also pelted stones on security personnel which has left at least 35 injured including 13 policemen. A number of vehicles have also been vandalised in the area by hooligans.
"We have registered a case of rioting and other sections of IPC and 23 persons have been arrested so far. Combing operations are on and the situation is being monitored at the highest level," said a senior police official.

Senior police officials are camping in the area. There were reports of fresh stone pelting in the area today after which additional force for neighbouring districts have also been deployed in the area.
