Tension prevailed in Kairana area after a teacher of a school for minorities and his brother were allegedly beaten up and forced to get down from a bus by six men near Kadela village in Shamli district, the police said.

The incident took place last evening when Naseem along with his brother Sameer was travelling in the passenger bus from Shamli to Kairana. Six men boarded the bus and asked their names and beat them up, Circle Officer Prakash Singh said.

The duo were then forcefully made to get down from the bus. The miscreants, however, escaped from the spot.

Later, people gathered and protested the incident and also blocked the Khatima-Panipat highway for several hours, the police said.
