Tension prevails following group clash

Tension prevailed at Ramasamypatti and neighbouring village Paraikulam after one person was attacked and hacked to death and two others injured in a clash, police said.

Police said Sekar and his friend Kader basha alias Muthuswamy had allegedly attacked Selvaraj, a native of Ramasamypatti, who criticised them for causing nuisance in an inebriated state in the neighbouring village in Virudhunagar district last night. Selvaraj,and his associates retaliated and allegedly hacked Sekar to death, police said.

Selvaraj and Kader had been admitted to the Hospital in a serious condition, police said.

Police said as they belonged to two different communities, there was tension in the area,and armed policemen had been posted. Police were monitoring the situation in the two villages in Ramanathapuram and Virudhunagar districts respectively.
 

Police have detained five persons in connection with the clash and they were being questioned, police added.
