Activists of the Students Federation of India today staged a protest demanding removal of Himachal Pradesh University Vice-Chancellor as tension prevailed in the campus, a day after a clash left 12 students injured.

The SFI demonstrated in front of Deputy Commissioner's office alleging the police had failed in arresting those involved in the violence.

They demanded removal of Vice Chancellor A D N Vajpayee, saying "he was also responsible for violence."

Some 12 students were injured, three of them critically, in a clash between ABVP and SFI activists in the HPU campus yesterday.

Cases were registered against 30 students in connection with the violence, police said. However, no arrests have been made.

The ABVP also demanded immediate arrest of those involved in the violence.

State Congress Chief Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu condemned the violence saying such incidences could vitiate the academic atmosphere.
