Tension prevails in Ullal after stabbing incidents

Tension prevailed in and around Ullal area near here with security beefed after two stabbing incidents have been reported in the last few days including one of an 11-year-old-boy.

Some unidentified persons had stabbed the boy yesterday, police said.

The locals of Manjanady, Mongugoli and surrounding areas had called for a bandh today demanding that police take action immediately. Roads were blocked and public transport was disturbed since morning.

Shops and establishments in the region remained closed. Protesters even prevented the officers from opening the Manjanady post office and security has been tightened in the region, officials said.

Unidentified persons had pelted stones at a place of worship at Ullalpete late last night resulting in the window panes breaking, which came to light only this morning.
