Tension subsides in old Hyd, restrictions partially lifted

However, prohibitory orders under Section 144 CrPC continued to remain in force as a precautionary measure and additional police force was deployed at all vulnerable areas, police said.

Violence had erupted near the Charminar following prayers yesterday, as mob allegedly indulged in heavy stone pelting at police, forcing the latter to use force and teargas shells to disperse the mob, who later torched five four-wheelers besides damaging six police vehicle and five two-wheelers at Charminar, Mirchowk, Gulzar House, Kilwat Road, Asra hospital and kalikaman.

About 50 people allegedly responsible for Friday's riots were taken into custody and were being questioned, police said.

 

Meanwhile, MIM and TRS public representatives met DGP V Dinesh Reddy on the issue of disturbances in old city.

While TRS representatives complained against the MIM leader for the "provoking" speeches, MLAs of MIM along with Syed Jaffri, MLC discussed various issued pertaining to disturbances.

The DGP assured them to look into the issues, sources said.
