Press Trust of India New Delhi

Zinc prices weakened by 0.33 per cent to Rs 179.25 per kg in futures market today as speculators cut bets, taking weak cues from spot markets on low demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in July shed 60 paise, or 0.33 per cent, to Rs 179.25 per kg in a business turnover of 757 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in August was enquired lower by a similar margin at Rs 178.90 per kg in 58 lots.

Analysts attributed the slide in zinc prices in futures trade to a slump in demand from consuming industries in the physical market.
