Term of Commission inquiring into jute farmers death extended

The term of the one-member commission was scheduled to end on May 28 and the extended term will be in effect from May 29 next or till the submission of the Commission's report, whichever is earlier, an official release said here today.

The Commission was formed to inquire into the circumstances leading to the killing of four persons and injuries to many, during the road-blockade programme on the National Highway-52 by thousands of jute farmers at Dalgaon in Darrang District on October 10, 2011.
