Hyderabad-based Terra Greens, a start-up focussed on organic food, announced today it will adopt 4000 farmers across Tamil Nadu.

Terra Greens Founder and Director Likitha Bhanu made this announcement at Agrimeet, an event conducted by VIT University in association with NABARD and agricultural university of Vellore, a company release said here.

Likitha said, "Our first step is helping these 4000 farmers to achieve Organic Farming Certification and Documentation and expand their prowess to grow organic rice and millets. Tamil Nadu is a rare oasis of organic and sustainable agriculture and we are happy with to welcome 4000 new farmers in Terra Greens family.

"The biggest benefit of our collaboration is a buy back guarantee from Terra Greens to these farmers. We will train and support them in organic agricultural practices."

Likitha said adding this effort was part of its growth strategy to increase the area under rice and millet cultivation.

Terra Firma Projects, founded by Likitha Bhanu and her mother in 2013, has tie-up with 2,000 farmers across five states to procure organic produce. The company is in talks to raise its first round of institutional funding to expand its production, distribution and new product portfolio, the release added.
