Terror alert in Gujarat, security stepped up

Gujarat is on high alert following inputs that terrorists have sneaked into the state, with authorities today stepping up security at all vital and sensitive locations, deploying National Security Guard (NSG) teams and cancelling leave of all police personnel.

Policemen were seen patrolling the highways since early morning. Gujarat DGP P C Thakur said combing operations have started across various locations.

Security was beefed up following a terror alert that said some terrorist have entered the state through Kutch. NSG teams have been sent to Gujarat from Delhi following Intelligence inputs, police sources said.

DGP Thakur issued orders late last night cancelling leave of all policemen and said they were prepared to deal with any situation.
 

"We are on high alert and prepared to deal any situation. We have started combing operations across various locations. We have also sensitised places that see high rate of footfall," he said.

High level meetings, headed by Home Secretary P K Taneja, were held in Gandhinagar early this morning and late last night.

There is tight security at all vital installations across the state like railway stations, airport.
