A court here has remanded terror suspect Nagoor Hanifa, arrested in connection with 2011 Advani pipe bomb case among others, in four days police custody for interrogation in an alleged attempt to murder of a police official.

The order was passed by Nilakottai Judicial Magistrate Nagalakshmi Devi last evening on a petition by police seeking seven days custody of 35-year-old Hanifa alias Mohammed Hanifa to interrogate him in connection with the attempt to murder Madurai Deputy Superintendent of Police M Karthikeyan.

Hanifa, a close associate of "Police" Fakruddin, a key suspect in terror cases, was arrested in Batlagundu near here on July 8 by a Special Investigation Team for his alleged role in the planting of a bomb on the yatra route of BJP leader L K Advani near Madurai in October, 2011.

He was brought from the Madurai Central Jail and produced before the court. The magistrate directed police to produce him before the court on November 18.
