Terrorist carrying head money arrested in Pakistan

A terrorist carrying a head money of Rs five lakh was arrested today in the restive northwestern Pakistan.

Basir was apprehended in Doaba area in Hangu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, bordering Aurakzai and Kurram tribal agencies, security sources said.

The law enforcers upon recieving information, beseiged the house of Basir and asked him to surrender. The terrorist in a bid to flee ran towards the nearby mountains. However, the troops ovepowered him after a little chase, they said.

Basir is a suicide jacket expert and master in making remote controlled landmines. The provincial home department had fixed Rs 500,000 as head money over his arrest, security sources said.
 

Police in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province have arrested over 13,000 suspects in anti-terror crackdowns after the federal government formed the National Action Plan (NAP) to quell militancy following the Peshawar school massacre by Taliban militants that killed 150 people, mostly students.

Pakistan military has intensified its 'Zarb-e-azab' operation launched in June last year in militants' stronghold of North Waziristan after the attack.

Army claims that more than 1,600 militants have been killed in the operation.
