Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari today condemned the attack on two TV journalists by supporters of self-proclaimed godman Asaram Bapu in Jodhpur.

"The assault on journalists by a religious preacher's followers is extremely condemnable and disturbing," the minister tweeted.

Tewari asked, "Is this what they teach and preach to their flock."

The supporters of Asaram allegedly attacked a TV reporter and a cameraman at his ashram as the Rajasthan Police headed to Bhopal to interrogate the self-styled godman and make an arrest if he does not provide "concrete" defence.

The TV journalist said that they had gone to Asaram's ashram for a coverage when some of his followers attacked them and snatched their camera.

Asaram is accused of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old schoolgirl and inmate of his Jodhpur ashram.
