Congress MP, Pramod Tewari today lashed out at Narendra Modi government for remaining ignorant to the plight of farmers in Uttar Pradesh and doing "nothing" to help them deal with their present problems arising out of deficient rainfall.

"Several districts of the state have received only 30 to 40 per cent rains and though farmers are in the midst of severe crisis, Modi government has neither released additional power from the Central quota nor any economic package", Pramod Tewari told news persons here.

"This is the second year in a row that farmers are on the brink of starvation and the Centre and state government should immediately start extending help as even if it rains now it will be of no use for their crop," Tewari said.

In the lighter vein, the Congress MP said that angry over the "unfulfilled" promises and announcements, the nature is also "angry" with prime minister because of which the country is facing its fury in the form of untimely rains, hailstorm and drought continuously.

Terming the central government as a "failure" on economic front, Tewari said that prime minister asked the private industry to invest more in yesterday's meeting and claimed that the new experiments of the Central government have proved to be a "failure".

"This is reflected in rising inflation, fluctuations in markets , drop in GDP rate amomg others", he added.
