Police say they are investigating an attack involving gunshots fired at the family compound of a Thai newspaper editor.

Police Col. Trairong Pewpan said an unknown number of attackers fired bullets into the property of Post Today newspaper executive editor Pattara Khampitak in Nonthaburi province early today.

He said the gunshots were fired into a house belonging to Pattara's brother-in-law. No one was injured in the attack.

Police also found a grenade hanging in front of the entrance to the compound.

Post Today reported that Pattara believes the shooting was a result of his criticism of the government and political groups.

Trairong says investigators have not decided yet if Pattara was the target of the attack as there are three houses in the family compound.
