A Thai woman was today arrested for allegedly carrying foreign currency worth about Rs 28 lakh at the airport here.
The woman, who had come to board a flight to Bangkok, was intercepted by customs officials. On examination of her baggage, it was found containing foreign currency amounting to UK Sterling Pound 27,400 (equivalent to Rs 28,22,200)," a press release issued by the customs said.
The passenger could not provide evidence in support of lawful possession of the recovered foreign currency. Hence, it was seized and the woman was arrested, it said.
