Thailand-based company Charoen Pokphand will set up five modern units, including a feed mill, in the field of poultry and pig farming with an outlay of over Rs 570 crore.
A memorandum in this regard was signed between the Punjab government and the company on Saturday last week.
Under the plan, the company will set up a feed mill at a cost of Rs 120 crore, a hatchery at Rs 24 crore, a breeding farm at Rs 102 crore, a broiler farm at Rs 324 crore and a swine farm Rs 1.2 crore in the state, Charoen Pokphand Vice-Chairman Chaiyaporn Montha said in a release.
The group intended to commence commercial production by 2014 and complete the proposed investment by 2018.
