Thakurs hails govt for in-principle nod to Manali-Leh railway

BJP MP Anurag Thakur today hailed the central government for according in-principle approval for construction and undertaking final location survey of Bilaspur-Mandi-Manali-Leh railway line along the India-China border.

Thakur said, "I would like to thank (Defence Minister) Manohar Parrikarji for the approval on construction and final location survey of Bilaspur-Mandi-Manali-Leh railway line."

"When the UPA was in power, I had made several requests for this railway line surrounding the border area. It is great to see the NDA Government take keen interest in improvising infrastructure close to border areas by approving such projects," the Hamirpur MP said.

The government has accorded in principle approval for construction and undertaking final location survey of four railway lines along the India-China border -- Missamari (Bhalukpong)-Tenga-Tawang; Bilaspur-Mandi-Manali-Leh; Pasighat-Parasuramkund-Rupai and North Lakhimpur-Bame (Along)-Silapathar.
 

This information was given by Parrikar in a written reply to Sanjay Raut in Rajya Sabha yesterday.
