Thane chawl owner shot at, hurt

A 59-year-old chawl owner was shot at and injured by a man in Rabodi area today, police said.

The incident occurred when Mannan Abdul Rashid Kazi was walking down the steps outside his house to attend prayers near a nearby mosque.

A masked man emerged and at fired a round, which hit him in his hand, police said.

As per the complaint, the man fired another bullet which Kazi ducked.

As Kazi's son rushed out of the house, the man fled the spot, according to police.

According to the complainant, the attacker kept asking him why he was opposing repair of his chawl, Zam Zam Manzil.
 

A case has been registered under various sections of IPC and Arms Act.

Incidentally, Kazi had allegedly tried to commit suicide just two days back over a dispute on repairs.

In a note prepared by Kazi, he had accused a corporator of harassing him to grab his property.
