Thane Collectorate clerk booked under Corruption Act

A senior clerk with Thane district collectorate has been booked by the anti-corruption unit here for allegedly demanding bribe for non-agricultural (NA) approval.

PI Dhanaji Jalag of Navi Mumbai unit who registered the FIR with Thane Nagar police station against the clerk said the accused allegedly demanded money from the complainant for NA approval for the company for which the former worked.

The construction company owned a plot at Chikloli Ambernath for which NA approval was needed from the district collector's office and the file was being handled by the accused, the complaint stated.

The ACB said it was between June 20 and July 1, 2016 that the clerk made the demand quoting the payout to seniors.
 

The ACB officials have booked the clerk under section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act. No arrest has been made so far in connection with the offence, said the official.
