The Thane district rural police claimed to have solved the mystery surrounding the theft of copper plates worth Rs 1 crore after the arrest of one person from Jammu & Kashmir.
Senior Police Inspector Kishore Khairnar of the Local Crime Branch (LCB) of the Thane District Rural Police told PTI today that it was between December 23 and December 25 that a container loaded with copper plates went missing from the Bombay-Ahmedbad highway.
It was within the limits of Chinchpada village that the container's driver went missing, with the trailer containing copper plates valued at Rs 1 crore.

However, the LCB team finally arrested one of the accused who is also the watchman of the trailer Sannikumar Gunjlal Dogra (22) of Aknur from Jammu & Kashmir.
His interrogation revealed that the driver of the trailer and three others stole the vehicle and its consignment was hidden in Silvassa, in other vehicles.
A Thane police rushed to Silvassa and recovered the entire booty worth Rs 1 crore stored in two tempos Kharinar said, adding that a hunt is on for four others including the trailer's driver.
