A local drama group Children's Theatre, which has staged over 50 shows of two Marathi plays enacted by child artists across Maharashtra, will present the English versions of the plays in Dubai in March next year.

The modalities of staging the shows for the first time in Dubai were being worked out, Children's Theatre group's Raju Tutallwar and Manas Kumthekar told reporters here yesterday.

Owing to the demand of the audience in Dubai, the two popular Marathi plays - 'Gubbarwalla Rakshas' and 'Cartoon Miki and Bheem' - would be enacted there in English by child artists in the age group of 4 to 15 years, they said.

The duo said that they were making efforts to divert the attention of the present day television-crazy children towards theatre from the electronic games which they were generally hooked to.

The drama group has in the last 26 years produced 75 plays and staged over 1,500 shows in the state, they claimed.

Till now, the theatre company has produced and staged only Marathi dramas, but during the forthcoming Christmas holidays, it will stage the two popular Marathi plays in Hindi as well, the duo said.

Also, during the new year, they plan to bring out the English version of the plays, they added.
