Thane to host Marathi litfest on Dec 10

City will host a festival of literature in Marathi and regional lingos in Maharashtra beginning December 10 here.

"The entire programme, to be held for first time, will try to bring together various languages. It is sponsored by Maharashtra State Board of Literature and Culture," announced working president of Marathi Granth Sangrahalay Vidhyadhar Walavalkar.

A performance by a Marathi rock band will inaugurate the event.

"Writers Avinash Dharmadhikari and Achyut Godbole will interact with the students on literature, reading and career. The festival is going to be a treat for young students because unlike other conventional literature festivals this fest has so much more to it than literature of just a single language
 

Writers of various tribal 'bolis' (lingos) such as varhadi (Vasant Vahokar), aagri (Gajanan Patil and Sarvesh Khare), sangameshwari (Anand Bondre), ahirani (Arvind Dode), warli (Mohan Patil), malvani (Sai Lalit) etc. Are invited for the event.

Telugu and Kannada authors Laxminarayan Bolli and Uma Kulkarni, respectively, are also invited.
