Thane top cop urges youth to join civil services

Urging youth to join civil services "to serve the country" here today, Thane's Joint Police Commissioner V V Lakshminarayana described these jobs as "the best platforms to uplift the poor" and become part of "emerging India".

He was addressing a gathering of students and parents as a chief guest, during a seminar held at Yashwant Bhavan Hall in Lower Parel here to encourage youth to give civil services exams.

"Politicians and those in civil services jobs directly deal with the people, try to understand their problems and make efforts to resolve them. By getting into civil services, one can serve the poor and the needy, which is as good as serving the country," he said.
 

He stated that online social networking platforms divert the attention of the youth and asked students to read books.

"Civil service jobs give immense job satisfaction and the kind of work we do directly affect the people," he said.

Civil services jobs have a lot of excitement since one gets to learn on a daily basis and challenges are manifold, he said.
