Thane ZP PWD engineer arrested while 'taking bribe'

An executive engineer of the Public Works Department of Thane Zilla Parishad has been arrested while allegedly taking a bribe from a contractor.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau laid a trap and arrested Padmakar Sukhdeve (57) while accepting Rs 1,00,000 at his office yesterday, said inspector Atul Aher, ACB-Thane.

Sukhdeve had allegedly demanded Rs 5,00,000 as commission from the contractor who had carried out some road work in the ZP limits.

Probe is on.
