Marlohe, 33, who is on the verge of international fame thanks to her role in the 23 Bond film, is hopeful that her character of Severine will be different from the "one-dimensional" Bondgirls of previous films, the Daily Mail reported.

"The Bond girl is dead. She is history. It's time for the Bond woman. A girl is a jeune fille; a girl is 15 or 16 or 17. Too much in movies we see skinny teenage girls who are too young to have anything to say or to have any life experience to draw on to show what it is to be a woman today....But Severine is different; she is complex," says Marlohe.

Marlohe, who had a brief stint in modelling where she refused to conform to the stereotypes, says her womanly traits was rejected in the modelling world but played an important role in getting her a part in the film.

The actress says director Sam Mendes wanted someone who possessed "good old-fashioned sexuality in the style of Sophia Loren and the early Bond girls, but who is not a girl, she is a woman."

Marlohe, who learnt to shoot a gun to prepare for her character, is also full of praise for Bond actor Daniel Craig.

"I think that Daniel is a brilliant actor who reinvented the character of James Bond, making him a more complex, modern man rather than the cartoon-like hero portrayed by other actors in the role. He is by far the best Bond. I hope that I have done something similar with Severine, making her a multidimensional, strong modern woman."
