A collection of 80 photos that chronicle the significant life history of the Dalai Lama is currently on show here as part of celebrations of the spiritual leader's 80th birthday celebrations.

The exhibition 'The World of his Holiness The Dalai Lama,' features different aspects in his life tracing back to his childhood and his rise to a spiritual leader.

The show has been jointly organised by the Bureau of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan Community, in collaboration with India International Centre.

From photographs with various world leaders to places of importance where his speeches have made an impact, his travels and experiences as well as awards conferred on him have been captured.

13 Thangka scrolls of the Dalai Lamas besides a well-preserved book containing Buddhist text and copies of 15 thangkas that were presented to the Dalai Lama in celebration of his birthday are also on display in the exhibition.

"We have categorized the photos in different forms, like early stage of his life, life in exile, how he contributed to the Tibetan culture and Tibetan establishments, interacting with special leaders, honors we has received like Nobel peace prize and interacting with public", says Tenzin Lekshay of Bureau of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

"Along with photos, have deliberately put some quotations by his Holiness, we have 80 quotations along with captions. The main idea is that we could also pass a message to the viewers through the photos," says Lekshay.

The exhibition at the Art Gallery, at IIC includes a short documentary film on his life as well as a video, with people from across the world wishing him on his birthday.

The week long exhibition is set to culminate on July 7.
