The famous spooky steps of "The Exorcist" have been officially recognised as the tourist attraction of Washington DC.
In the film starring Linda Blair as a child possessed by evil spirit, Father Karras takes the demon into himself and jumps out of the window to his death at the bottom of the stone steps, which became one of the most favourite spots for tourists to click picutres in the city.
"It is important that all the tourists know exactly what these steps mean to DC history and they are indeed an icon in our town. It is also a marker for us to put in the ground to say that we are going to double and redouble our efforts to make DC a film town," said Mayor Muriel Bowser, while making the announcement.
The ceremony was followed by the screening of the 1972 horror classic with director William Friedken.
