The five-day budget session of

Nagaland Assembly began today with the address of the state Governor P B Acharya.

Chief Minister Zeliang made obituary reference on the passing away of Late General (Retd) K V Krishna Rao, former Governor of Nagaland (1984) and Late Purno Agitok Sangma, Former Lok Sabha Speaker and sitting MP from Meghalaya.

Speaker of the House, Chotisuh Sazo made obituary in respect of three former members of the House, which include Late L Nokzenketba, Late Lalkholam Kuki and Late T Sakusangba Aier.

The House observed two-minute silence in honour of the departed souls.

Later, MLA Vikho-o Yhoshu tendered the motion of thanks to the governor for his speech, while MLA Namri Nchang seconded.
 

Discussion on the governor's address would be taken up on March 17 and 18.
