The flood situation in
Tamirabarani river continued tobe bad with about 16000 cusecs of water flowing into the river,inundating all the low lying areas near its bank.
Officials said the residents of the low lying areas had been already moved to the safe areas where they were being taken care of by the officials.
The educational institutes in 12 districts,including Kanyakumari,tirunelveli,pudukottai,tiruvarur,nagapattinam, remained closed.
In the meanwhile two boys affected dengue had been admitted to the hospital at the Palayamkottai Government Hospital.
The Mullaiperiyar dam also reached almost its full level of 142 feet. The district collector Venkatachalam today visited the Dam site.
The collector said the dam was being monitored by the PWD officials round the clock and it was in good shape.
