The decision to convert their Asia series into an Indian championship has proved beneficial for the young racers of the country as they have managed to catch international attention, Sanjay Sharma, Head of Motorsport, JK Tyres, said today.
JK Tyres had replaced their Asia series with Formula BMW series for the Under-20 drivers of the country. The tyre major spent USD 500,000 to secure 12 free racing seats for the budding Indian drivers.
"This formula of Indianising the series has worked for us. The Team Principal of Euro International (which provides cars for the series) Antonio Ferrari was so impressed after watching the first two rounds that he has extended his offer of a Test seat in F3 to the winner of our LGB class too," Sharma told PTI.
