The lives of godmen inspires political novel

"I have been fascinated by the lives of godmen and the power they wield in the lives of politicians and even businessmen. As a result, the book is inspired by a number of real-life instances," Bhimani says on his book 'The Accidental Godman'.

Insisting that the story is not based on the life of any particular spiritual or religious leader, he told PTI, "Godmen have been influencing all of us in a number of ways. From modern gurus to godmen like Chandraswami and Dhirendra Brahmachari they have always been in news and often surrounded by controversies due to political links".

 

The futuristic novel is set in India in 2027 when the population of the country stands at an alarming 1.62 billion people.

As a result, open spaces have disappeared and the remaining public parks can, ironically, only be entered with the help of 'ration' cards for limited periods.(MORE)
