"Like the title Maach Misti and More, signifying a sweet-toothed Bong with fetish over fish will also sip cola and 'chicken hot wings', wear denim, sneakers and polo as well as 'Punjabi' and Saree with equal aplomb, this 127-year old shop Balaram Mallick and Radharam Mallick has also evolved over the years and mirrors the changing facade of the city like its generations," the 'Bedroom' director told PTI.
"As we move to another era of facebook and twitter, from post cards and inland letters, we continuously suffer from a sort of rootlessness craving for the new, the urban, the contemporary but can we totally move away from past! The less than 150-year old shop serves as the metaphor where the new and the hep meet with the older generation, maach, misti and more consecutively" he said..
"When you visit traditional paras of kolkata like Bhawanipore or Baghbazar you can sense this undying connection, this is one city trying to keep pace with other metros but still steeped into the quaint, old world charm for which it is more known outside," he said. More
