British/French crime drama television series 'The Tunnel' is set to return for a second series.

Stephen Dillane and Clemence Poesy will reprise their roles in the show, which is an Anglo-French adaptation of Scandinavian drama 'The Bridge', reported Digital Spy.

'The Tunnel 2: Debris' will air early next year, reuniting detectives Karl Roebuck and Elise Wassermann on a new case not inspired by 'The Bridge'.

Sky Atlantic boss Zai Bennett revealed that the second series will focus on an airliner that crashes in the English Channel.

Ben Richards is returning to write the eight-part sequel, which is co-produced by Sky Atlantic and Canal+ with Kudos and Shine Films France.
