During the trial, Rajender and Ajay had said that they were implicated in this case at the instance of the woman and her husband. The court, however, convicted them, saying the testimony of the victim "is natural, clear, cogent, convincing, trustworthy and inspires confidence. There is nothing in her statement to suggest that she had any animus against the accused to falsely implicate them in the case. "In the circumstances, it stands clearly established on the record that accused Ajay Kumar attempted to perform an act of sexual intercourse with the prosecutrix without her consent," it said.
