The Jammu police today ruled out a surge in incidents of theft and burglary in the city, claiming that the number of such cases has actually come down.

"There were thefts in the past (also). It (number of cases) has not increased, rather there is a decrease in such cases," IGP (Jammu Zone), Rajesh Kumar, said.

He also brushed aside involvement of any outsider gang of burglars and child-lifters in the crimes in city.

Kumar said night vigils have been intensified by police to curb such cases, and public-police interactions are being organised regularly to infuse confidence among the masses.
