Theft from cash collection van: 2 held with Rs 15.70 lakh

Two persons, allegedly involved in stealing cash from a collection van last month, were arrested with police today claiming that they have recovered Rs 15.70 lakh from them.

Rajan (51) and Mati Vanan (50), members of inter-state gang "Thak Thak Gang" of Tamil Nadu, were apprehended from Khanna Market here, Chhaya Sharma, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South), said.

They told police that they were operating in Delhi, Noida, Haryana, Punjab, Mumbai and Maharashtra, she said.

On March 20, the gang had fled with Rs 55 lakh from the cash collection van in Central district.

A guard was sitting in the cash van when one person told him that his money has fallen on ground. As guard got down from the van other members of the gang fled away with the van.
