Nepali Congress president Sushil Koirala has expressed confidence that the dissenting parties, including breakaway Maoist faction, would participate in the Constituent Assembly polls as there was no alternative to the elections.
Noting that the talks are underway with the leaders of the dissenting parties to pursue them to participate in the elections, Koirala made it clear that his party is not against federalism but not in favour of multiple-ethnicity based federalism.
Koirala said the dissenting parties would participate in the polls as "there is no alternative to the elections".

Over two dozen fringe parties including CPN-Maoist have been protesting against the election demanding resignation of the head of the election government.
