Thieves kill guard at under-construction building

Guard of an under-construction building on Ambedkar Road here was allegedly axed to death by two thieves when he tried to catch them while stealing materials from the site, police said today.

The victim has been identified as Kapil (55) a resident of Ballia in Uttar Pradesh, they said.

He was posted at the site of an under construction building at Kalka Gadi Chowk.

Yesterday, Kapil was sleeping on the ground floor of the building and the driver of the building owner was sleeping on the third floor, they said.

Around 2.15 AM, two intruders entered the building to steal aluminium fittings.
 

Hearing sounds, Kapil woke up and fought with the thieves. The duo attacked Kapil with an axe and killed him on the spot.

Hearing the sounds of commotion, the driver came downstairs. On seeing the driver, the thieves fled the spot.

The driver then called up the owner of the building and police.

Police reached the spot and nabbed the thieves.

DSP Ranvijay Singh said the accused-- Badshah and Vakeel-- have been booked under Section 302 (murder) and Section 34 (act done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the IPC and have been sent to jail.
