The Thingbu circle in Tawang district, bordering China, remains cut off with the rest of Arunachal Pradesh for the past two months as the strategically important PMGSY road has been washed away at several points due to incessant rain this monsoon.

"The road is not only the life line of the furthest village of Tawang district, but is also of strategic importance for Army convoy movement," an official communique said here today.

Owing to the harsh monsoon, Thingbu hydel power too was severely damaged for which the circle and its peripheral villages have no access to electricity for a long time, it said.

State Tourism Minister Pema Khandu on Thursday had inspected landslide and flood damaged sites at Thingbu PMGSY road and Thingbu Hydel and asked the district administration to complete its repair and restoration work as early as possible, it said.
