'Chhattisgarh Sanyukta Morcha', a coalition of 11 parties, will provide an alternative to ruling BJP and main Opposition Congress, the front leaders said today.
Chhattisgarh Swabhiman Manch, CPI, CPI (M), Rashtriya Gondwana Gadtantra Party, Chhattisgarh Mukti Morcha, National Peoples Partry (NPP), Loktantrik Samajwadi Party, JD-U, Mool Niwasi Mukti Morcha, Bahujan Mukti Morch and Republican Party of India have formed an alliance and named it Chhattisgarh Sanyukta Morcha," Chitranjan Bakshi, a member of National Executive Committee of CPI, told PTI.
"The time is now to form the third front as people are disenchanted with both the Congress and the BJP," Bakshi said on the sidelines of a public gathering organised by these parties at Spare school grounds here.
"These parties will fight the upcoming election under the banner of Chhattisgarh Sanyukta Morch. A meeting will be held soon to chalk out a common minimum programme," he said.
Asked about the speculation of Bahujan Samaj Party and NCP joining the grouping, Bakshi said "we have talked with senior BSP and NCP leaders on forming a third front and we are hoping to get support from them."
Earlier, addressing the people at the gathering, the leaders of the new alliance alleged the present BJP Government as well as the Opposition Congress have been "looting" the natural resources of Chhattisgarh.
Eradicating corruption will be the top priority of the third front, they said.
